Parry’s Blest Pair of Sirens

  • St Dunstans Church High Street Mayfield, England, TN20 6AB United Kingdom (map)

Mayfield Festival Choir and the Ripieno Players directed by Jeremy Summerly

Blest pair of Sirens is a setting of John Milton’s seventeenth century poem At a Solemn Music. Composed in 1887, Parry’s choral masterpiece is widely regarded as one of the greatest achievements within English choral music. The work exemplifies Parry’s ability to combine intellectual depth, emotional power and architectural grandeur.

This was performed as part of the 2026 Mayfield Festival of Music and the Arts, in a programme that included Haydn’s ‘Drum-roll’ Symphony and Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A minor with Xu Peng.
