Israel in Egypt is one of the most original and ambitious oratorios of the Baroque era. Unlike Handel’s more familiar English oratorios (such as Messiah or Samson), Israel in Egypt is remarkable for its overwhelming emphasis on the choir, which functions not merely as commentator, but as the primary dramatic force.

This was performed as part of the 2026 Mayfield Festival of Music and the Arts.
